FG Approves Disbursement Of Cabotage Vessel Fund…………..Distribution Starts Next Year, 2020 — Amaechi

The Federal Government has approved the disbursement Cabotage Vessel Fund to indegeneous operators .
The Minister of Transportation, Rt. Hon. Rotimi Amaechi who announced this Friday on the occassion of  the Nigeria Shippers’ Council 2019 Night of Appreciation in Lagos said the fund will be disbursed from next year, 2020.
Rt. Hon Amaechi however made it clear that the  fund would not be disbursed without hearing from the practitioners what they want, how to go about the disbursement  and what would be the outcome of it.
He said in view of this development,  he would be  meeting  with the Executive Secretary / CEO Nigeria Shippers’ Council,  Director General,  Nigeria Maritime and Administrative Agency,(NIMASA), and  Director General Nigeria  Inland Waterways Agency, (NIWA),  and MD NPA on Tuesday to look into the Cabotage Fund and Resources as to know what the needs are.
“In January,  2020 we will invite  you people to tell us what you want. If it does not align with what we want, we take your own because you are the practitioners”, he concludes.

Speaking also, the Director General of Nigeria Maritime Administration and Safety Agency ( NIMASA ), Dr Dakuku Peterside who described synergy as success to the Maritime Industry remarked that the greatest secret of having a great working environment is an atmosphere of ‘trust’ and where business is being cared for.
Dr. Dakuku noted that nothing could make an organisation great than her workers, hence they are strategic and resourceful , while commending the Executive Secretary of Nigeria Shippers’ Council for caring for his workers which has made the Council great.
“The young generation of the Nigerian Shippers’ Council  through their words have shown that they are not concernedabout Shippers’ Council of yesterday, today but can clearly see a Council of tomorrow being pride of Africa, a reference point in the Continent  of Africa”, he said.
He attributed this development to the environment which provided fertile idea to thrive  and congratulated the management of Nigerian Shippers’ Council for being trade blazers, coming up with new ideas for the development of the Industry.
Earlier in his opening speech, the Chairmanof the occassion, Chief Oladipo Jadesimi who described the role of the Nigerian Shippers’ Council in the Industry as more than a trade blazer, commended the Council for its giant strides in its services to all operators.
Chief Jadesimi who is the Executive  Chairman, Lagos Deep Offshore Logistics  Base (LADOL) called on Nigeria to emulate the seafaring program of the Philippines  who he said have over 10,000 seafarers  onboard ship across the globe.
Highlights of the ceremony which was attended by the who is who on the industry including House Committee members on maritime matters of the national Assembly, was the presentation of keys to 100 staff of the Nigerian Shippers’ Council staff among whom is the Director of Special Duties of the Counci, Mrs Rebecca Adam by the NIMASA DG, Dr. Dakuku Peterside.
