COVID-19,14-Day Lockdown:  CRFFN  To Push For Police Protection Of Freight Forwarders.

In view of the recent directive by President Muhammadu Buhari in a nationwide broadcast,, that all seaports should remain operational in order to continue to handle essential goods and services, with a 14-day total lockdown order in Lagos, Ogun and FCT, with effect from 11pm, 30th March,2020, the Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria(CRFFN) is set to Laise with the Transportation Minister, for the request for Police protection of freight forwarders who are registered with Associations accredited by the CRFFN. to and fro the ports.
The National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders(NAGAFF), Chief Increase Uche disclosed that the Registrar of CRFFN, Mr. Samuel Nwakohu agreed in a meeting to link up with the Minister, urged NAGAFF members to see the development as a call to duty and as a way of  demonstrating their strategic role of ensuring the sustenance of cargo flow in the management of the logistics supply chain.
Chief Uche however advised that those who do not have genuine businesses to transact at the ports, should stay away out of the ports, while those with genuine businesses to carry out , should do so, adhering to rules of engagement as it concerns trade practices.
He further said, “Accordingly, it is expected that in the course of our duties, we shall all continue toadopt all the pre-cautionary and preventive measures issued by the NCDC to curb the spread of COVID-19 pandemic.
“NAGAFF, hereby urges all port users to guide against any acti0on capable of whittling down the efforts of the government in curbing the spread of the deadly virus”.
