The announcement of cash donations to some freight forwarding associations by the National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders(NAGAFF), has continued to generate some hit in the industry.
It would be recalled that NAGAFF had in a statement dated 20th of April, 2020 announced cash donations to both governments and some organisations and stakeholders in the Maritime Industry as part of their social responsibility, but this did not go down well with the some of the affected organisations, as Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agent(ANLCA) immediately rejected such donation.
The Association of Registered Freight Forwarders in Nigeria(AREFFN) , in a release endorsed by their President, Alhaji Bala Lawan Daura made available to Timenewsreporter in Lagos today, 23rd April,2020 said the that they never requested nor received any Covid-19 palliative from NAGAFF or any other Organisation, except Protective Sanitizers from the Council of Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria(CRFFN).
According to him, “Our attention has been drawn to this news making the round that our Association received a N50,000 Covid-19 Palliative from our Sister Associations- The National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF)
“We wish to set the record straight by unequivocally stating that the Association of Registered Freight Forwarders in Nigeria (AREFFN),never requested nor received any Covid-19 palliative from NAGAFF or any other organisations, except the Protective Sanitizers from the Council For the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria(CRFFN)
“All the Associations are aware that CRFFN has a working Task Team on this pandemic. It is also common knowledge that all the Associations are adequately represented in this Task Team. One would have expected that anybody or group wishing to assist freight forwar4ders at this time should channel such assistance through the regulatory body, (CRFFN), which is the best position to reach out to all the associations following acceptable protocol”, he said.
Bala however thanked NAGAFF for conceiving such gesture but advised that in future it should should be more tactful in relating with other Associations of Coordinate status.
