Award:  President General, Maritime Workers Union Of Nigeria,Adeyanju, Honored

The President General,  Maritime Workers Union in Nigeria,(MWUN), Comrade Adewale Adeyanju has been honored with an award of Excellence and Productivity.
Receiving the Award at the Union’s secretariat,  in Lagos by the Time News Reporters, an online Media, Prince Comrade Adeyanju who expressed profound joy over the gesture,  however pledged to continue to ensure the protection of the welfare of the workers in the maritime sector.
Comrade Adeyanju who dedicated the award to all members of staff of the union who had contributed to his success as a leader,  noted that to lead such a gigantic union with thousands of workers had not been easy and commended the Publisher and management of Time News Reporters for the honour done on him.
The MWUN President General remarked that his priority as a leader and Supervisor was to protect the interest of my members,  the workers in general adding,  “since our coming on board,  I think we have been having robust meeting with our employers,  with our workers and if there’s any area of challenges,  with God,  I think everything will be moving well’.
He used the forum to pat on the back of the Federal Government for putting a strong fight against COVID – 19 pandemic making sure that Coronavirus did not kill millions of Nigerians as it affected other nations of the world.
” All is not so easy. COVID -19 really affected the maritime as a whole,  but we thank God,  things are moving on gradually and we pray that these unwanted friends that visited the whole world,  very soon,  and I think it has started  parking its loads back to where it came from,  so that our economy will continue to boom and all the stakeholders that have ran away from the Country because of the pandemic have started coming back.
“I want to thank our government for making sure this pandemic does not kill millions of Nigerians as it affected the whole world”,  he stated.
In her speech shortly before presenting the Award , the Editor of Time News Reporters, Pearl Ngwama, disclosed that the honour was in commemoration of the 2-year anniversary of the online media, having carefully observed his immense contribution to the growth of the industry and the welfare of the maritime workers.
Ngwama stated that a committee that was set up to select personalities of repute who merited the award considering their track records , according to her, “I want to clearly say here that in doing this, the name of Comrade Prince Adeyanju came to the front burner. Categorically, this is not an award of sale but of merit.
“When I entered this office, my eyes went straight to the table and then to the shelve and I could see a lot of plagues of various awards that Prince Adeyanju have gotten. I’m convinced that indeed prince Adeyanju has earned all of them and we want to add ours not because we want to sell an award but because he has earned it. looking at all these plaques here if he is to buy them, then he’ll be spending virtually all his income on awards
She further pointed out that the award was in recognition of his passion for the growth of the industry, for the workers welfare and sustainability as well as ensuring their job security and sustainability in addition to his philanthropic gestures.
Baring his mind on the gesture to Prince Adewale Adeyanju by Time News Reporters , Deputy Secretary General,  MWUN,              said “I think he really deserve whatever award he is being given. Even by today he is given MON or MNI,  he has paid his dues. He has contributed in stabilizing the economy. It is always said that the maritime is the gate way to the Nigeria economy. 90% of import comes from the transformer there’s no stability within the maritime sector,  the economy will have a problem.
The Deputy Secretary General described him as being a ‘Boss in Boss’,  a transformer,  God fearing, philanthropist, a giver,  very considerate leadership,  a father,  adding that his coming into the president general leadership position with sense of purpose and direction brought a change in the literarily wilderness state of the union.
” He has the interest of his workers and members at heart. Tonnage and other workers are now entitled to their pension and gratuity,  all courtesy of him.
“He is God fearing and a father to some of us that we have now. Some of us have lost our fathers and he is someone you can call on today. He is a problem solver and a very prudent manager”,  he added.
On his position in the Union before he became the national treasurer during the period of 2002 – 2009 under the leadership of Comrade Nicholas Peter,  who was then the President General of maritime Union ,  the position of the leadership of the dockworkers branch in 2009 – 2017 after the expiration of the tenure ship of Comrade Peter. And haven proved his mantle,  in 2017,  he assumed the position of President General of the Maritime Workers Union.
“As at today,  he is the Trustee of the Nigeria Labor Congress,  a member of the board of NHITA,  Chairperson of International Workers Transport Federation,  Fishery Section,  African Region and mist recently became an associate member of Nigeria Labor Institute”,  he added.
He urged Adeyanju to stay focused despite challenges,  distractions and others.
