… calls for adequate welfare for the forces
… asks youths to give government another chance.
The National Chairman new Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Dr. Boniface Aniebonam, has called on the federal government to institute a reformed Police Force as well reform other security agencies with improved welfare package.
Aniebonam who is also the Founder, National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF), made the call while reacting to the violence that infiltrated the two weeks ‘EndSARS,’ stating that this should be done in dispatch .
He noted that the right to peaceful protest was contained in the Nigeria Constitution, except that lives and properties were lost and destroyed under the circumstance.
Though regrettable, the NAGAFF Founder said we should appreciate God if this could be the sacrifice we needed to make to have peace and enthrone good governance and rule of law in our Country.
He said: ‘’The right to peaceful protest as contained in the Nigeria Constitution, it is interesting except that lives and properties were lost and destroyed under the circumstance. We cannot make an omelet without breaking an egg which indeed under the unfortunate and avoidable circumstances we have found ourselves in this shameful standoff.
‘’Nevertheless if it is the sacrifice we needed to make to have peace and enthrone good governance and rule of law in our Country we thank God for it with regrets.’’
Aniebonam pointed out that over the time government and its agents may have been so unreasonable in their conduct and attitude to the lives of the Nigerian citizens in a democracy, hence the daring response from the Nigerian youths.
‘’The most interesting thing is that over the time government and its agents may have been so unreasonable in their conduct and attitude to the lives of the Nigerian citizens in a democracy.
‘’As it were presently they acted as usual and the youths responded decisively and suicidal. This simply means that nobody either as a human being or government has monopoly of violence,’’ he posited.
On behalf of the NNPP, he urged both parties to count this as an opportunity restore peaceful co-existence in Nigeria in order to build a greater Nigeria that we all long for.
‘’May we at this point from us in the New Nigeria People’s Party and as Nigerians appeal to both parties to take advantage of these bad experiences to reinvent our old days of peaceful co existence and work together for a Greater Nigeria of our dreams.
‘’It is our hope that government at all levels should take responsibility to enthrone justice and fairness to all manner of people residing in Nigeria.
‘’It is also most important that going forward government should as a matter of urgency address all issues brought forward in this standoff including a reformed police force and other security agencies of Nigeria.
‘’Every effort must be made to ensure adequate welfare for the forces with a view to ensuring optimal productivity on security matters and enforcement duty. And for the youth there is no doubt that you have been failed avoidably and it is our hope that you give government another chance.
‘’The entire Nigerians who are patriots doff their cap for you in unisim of action and reaction. Let us now go to the round table for purposeful and sincere engagement for the good of our Country,’’ the NNPP Chairman said further.
