Hinged on the delay in clearing of goods from the Nation’s apex Port in Apapa, Lagos, as a result of traffic gridlock, the Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC), Thursday, hinted that it would seek the suspension of demurrage and rest on behalf of shippers.

Executive Secretary NSC, Mr. Hassan Bello, who dropped the hint, noted that the terrible condition of the roads has made it impossible for shippers to clear goods from terminals within the stipulated three days as well as return empty containers within four days.

The condition of the roads has resulted in standstill traffic around the ports thereby frustrating the ability of the shippers to perform their obligations.
