Another feather has been added to the cap of a distinguished Nigerian personality who has contributed immensely to the growth and development of the Maritime Industry, Dr. Boniface Okechukwu Aniebonam, the Founder of National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF)..

Dr Aniebonam was on Thursday conferred with the honour of  Grand Fellow of the Institute of Transport and Management Technology. The occasion which was colourful was graced by notable distinguished and respected freight forwarders, friends and well wishers.

Speaking at the occasion, the Rector of the Institute, Dr. Mrs Lilian Chibor remarked that the Institute singled out the recipient  for the honour based on his enormous contributions to the growth and development of the Maritime Industry.in Nigeria.
”You cannot talk about maritime Industry and Trade Facilitation in Nigeria without mentioning Dr. Aniebonam.  NAGAFF, as far as I know, is the 1st Freight Forwarding Association, and has made tremendous impact in Maritime Business in Nigeria having thousands of Members across the Country”.
”NAGAFF is a vital component in the maritime Industry capable of placing Nigeria comparatively in the forefront of African and International Freight”, she said.
Dr. Mrs Chibor pointed out that, in the 36 years of the Institute’s existence, Dr. Aniebonam is the third person to be conferred with the   the Grand Fellowship of the Institute after Lt. General Jeremiah Useni (Rtd) and Col. Hammed Ali (Rtd), Controller General Of Nigerian Customs Service (NCS).
”We are celebrating an Icon, a super brand, a brilliant, energetic, fearless and vocal personality, someone who always stands for the truth no matter whose Ox is gored”.
”He is the third person to be conferred in 36 years of the Grand Fellowship of the Institute after Lt. General Jeremiah Useni (Rtd) and Col. Hammed Ali (Rtd), Controller General of Nigeria Customs. Service.  Dr. has been so supportive in all the activities of the Institute.  He has been a fellow of the Institute since 2003”. Rector concluded.
According to the Rector, ”The Institute was established in 1984 by late Dr. Victor Chibor.  It is approved by the Federal Ministry of Education, National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), Federal Ministry of Transport and Aviation, and is enlisted in JAMB as one of the Innovation  Enterprise Institutes IEI)”.
”The Institute has graduated over 10,000 scholars, most of whom are captains of Industries, CEOs, Top management staff of organizations, Cabin Crews, Ship Captains, Ticketing officers and Successful Men and Women across the Globe”, she added.
Responding, the  recipient, Dr. Boniface Aniebonam, who is also the Founder of NAGAFF,  thanked the management of the Institute for the honour done on him, and  promised to do all within his ability to live up to expectation as well as add value to the Institute.
Dr. Aniebonam who is also the founder of New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), and currently the National Chairman of the Party said NAGAFF had towed the path of the Institute in developing capacity by establishing NAGAFF Academy, in order to add value to the Industry and urged Freught Forwarders to take advantage of what the Institute has to offer.
Dr. Boniface Okechukwu Aniebonam,  a member of the Council for Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria (CRFFN),is the Chairman of Aniebonam Organisation, a conglomerate comprising Ojokoro Cement Industry, JLI Ventures Ltd and others.
 Dr.  Aniebonam , had through these venture been  contributing his quota to the revenue generation efforts of the Government and as well as providing employment opportunities for Nigerian Youth
He is unrelenting in contributing  to the empowerment of Freight Forwarders by the establishment of NAGAFF Academy, school for training and retraining of fresh Freight Forwarders as well as Practitioners.
Dr Aniebonam had received several awards of excellence for his meritorious and distinguished service and contributions to the Freight Forwarding and Shipping business in Nigeria.
As a public policy advocate, he has been at the forefront of the fight to restore dignity to the Freight Forwarding profession in Nigeria, and played a very critical role in the various processes that led to the final birth of the Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria (CRFFN) Act 16 of 2007.
He has over 30 years experience in Freight Forwarding Business in Nigeria and worked briefly with the Lake-Chad Research Institute and the Nigerian Customs Service before going into Freight Forwarding, Logistics Business and Customs facilitations
