NAGAFF Urges New Police Boss to address  indiscriminate parking of Trucks along port corridors

The National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders(NAGAFF) has urged the newly deployed Area Commander in charge of Area B Police Command, Apapa, Umar Dikwa to address issues of indiscriminate parking of trucks along the Port corridors.
The Founder of NAGAFF, Dr Boniface Aniebonam  who gave the advice Friday when the Areas Commander paid a courtesy visit to NAGAFF headquarters in Apapa, Lagos , Nigeria. also enjoined him to address the incessant interception of already cleared imported cars by his officers.
”We hear reported cases of indiscriminate int6erception of cargos, particularly imported vehicles and brazen extortion of cargo by Police personnel. We urge you to please look into this issue,” he said. .
Aniebonam noted that the role of the association is to oversee and protect the interest of its members in the course of the  business, especially those that are illegitimate
Founder of NAGAFF, maintained that the association is a responsible group of practitioners in freight forwarding business, adding that the association does not encourage false declaration in cargo clearance while recalling the existing cordial relationship between the police and NAGAFF.
 He prayed  that God will promote him(the Area Commander) to the level of a commissioner before retirement , even as he recalled the Inspector General of Police, Usman Baba Alkali’s visit to NAGAFF headquarters before his appointment as IGP..
“Within this five years in service God will make you get to the level of a commissioner before you retire from service,” Aniebonam prayed..
Speaking earlier, the Area Commander in Charge of Area B, Nigeria Police Force , Mr. Umar Dikwa, who described members of the National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF) as law abiding group without any negative reports with the force in the last three months , said his visit to NAGAFF was to solicit the support of the association during his stay .
According to him, no member of the association has case to answer  with the police at Area B formation in the last three months noting that the clean slate signifies that NAGAFF is responsible organisation.
He said ” First and foremost, I assumed duty as the Area Commander three months ago and I have handled so many cases about clearing agents but I have never seen any file connecting to members of NAGAFF..
“Kudos to NAGAFF and I hope this record will be maintained. However, if there is any problem ; my doors are open for discussion”,Dikwa stated.
He maintained that officers and men under his watch embarked on night patrol and monitoring to sanitize the port corridors .
Earlier , President of NAGAFF, Chief Tochukwu Ezisi assured that Area Commander that members of the association will collaboration with the Police in maintaining law and order within the port environment.
Ezisi noted that the force and NAGAFF both have a symbiotic relationship  during and after the formative stage of the association, urging the Police boss to work closely with the freight forwarding group as part measures of information sharing .
