The 100% Compliance Committee of the National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF) will on Wednesdaynext week flag off a 2-day workshop on sustainable synergy on 22nd and 23rd June , 2022 at Rockview hotel, Apapa by 10 am.

The National Chairman NAGAFF 💯% Compliance Team, Alhaji Ibrahim Tanko who announced this during a press briefing in Apapa that the purpose of this workshop is to discuss on how to solve the problems which the operators in the maritime industry are faciing.

Tanko said the workshop has become necessary because it will give service providers including the shipping lines, terminal operators, and barge operators as well as regulators such as the Nigerian Ports Authority, Customs, the Nigerian Shippers Council, and the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency among others to synergise.

“The workshop is to x-ray all constraints, inefficiency and blockage in cargo clearance and the cost of doing business in the nation’s seaport”, he added.

Tanko pointed out some important issues which will be discussed to include demurrage, late refund of container deposits, barge operations, rail container transfer to Inland Container Depots (ICDs) Practitioners Operating Fee (POF), the new e-call up system (ETO), process of transire and issue of Vehicle Identification Number (VIN).

“There’s this need for us to have this kind of workshop for the interest of all stakeholders instead of us fighting”, said Alhaji Tanko.

“Best way to solve out inherent problems is through the workshop. We want to sit and deliberate on way forward to avoid clash of interest”, he added.

On the stand of compliance team regarding the collection of POF, Tanko said , compliance team is not opposing the collection of POF. What we are saying is that CRFFN must explain to freight forwarders the benefits and reasons of paying or collecting POF.”
