The Council for the Maritime Truck Unions and Associations(COMTUA) has sued for the cooperation and support of government in addressing the persistent accidents on the roads, especially the continuos fall of container boxes.
The organisation expressed it’s heartfelt condolences with the families of the victims whose loved ones where involved in the fatal accident on Sunday.
The COMTUA National President, Adeyinka Aroyewun who made the appeal in a statement on Monday also called for the cooperation of relevant government agencies at ensuring that the right checks are done on vehicles before certification.
COMTUA further pledged to strengthen its regulation and control on the members to ensure that safety is not compromised in all their dealings.
The statement reads, “COMTUA regrets the unfortunate incident and shall support government to ensure a safer roads for motorist.

“We wish to express the regret of our association on the frequency of accidents involving our members’ trucks, the deaths, injuries and loss that results from it.
“We are, through this release expressing our condolences with the families of the victims. We pray to Almighty God to give them the fortitude to bear the loss.
“We are concerned about this and shall cooperate and support the government in all areas and plans to address the persistent problem of accidents on our roads, especially the continuous fall of container boxes.
“We shall strengthen our regulation and control on our members to ensure that safety is not compromised in all our dealings.
“We shall by this medium seek the cooperation of relevant government agencies in ensuring that the right checks are done on vehicles before certification.
“COMTUA regrets the unfortunate incident and shall support government to ensure a safer roads for motorist.”
