NCS Condemns Attack Against Its Officer, Haruna.     …….Vows to seek Justice.

The Nigeria Customs Service(NCS) has condemned unequivocally the attack against its officer, Auwal Haruna, Customs Assistant II, at Gamji Makaho Checkpoint in Dankama area of Katsina State recently which resulted to his death .

The service has therefore vowed to seek Justice for his death.

The Comptroller General of Customs (CGC), Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, has extended his heartfelt condolences to the family and colleagues of CA II, Auwal Haruna.

In the statement endorsed by the National Public Relations Officer,(NPRO) of the Service, Abdullahi Maiwa, the Comptroller General disclosed that the NCS, in close collaboration with other security agencies, is tirelessly working to apprehend the perpetrators of the reprehensible act and ensure they face the full consequences of the law.

Adeniyi posited that “Violence against our officers is utterly unacceptable, and we will pursue every avenue to bring those responsible to justice. The safety of our personnel and the security of our borders remain paramount. We are committed to working with traditional rulers, government bodies, and sister agencies to combat this heinous crime against our personnel.”

He reaffirmed the unwavering commitment to combating smuggling and other cross-border crimes, assuring that the Service will not falter in its mission to uphold the law and protect the interests of the Nigerian people.

Furthermore he said, “Intelligence available to us indicates that certain unpatriotic community members are harbouring suspected accomplices involved in this heinous crime”.

The Customs CG however implored individuals in the Community to embrace patriotism by aligning with the law and refraining from condoning illegality, stressing, “It is in the best interest of our communities and nation to collaborate with law enforcement agencies to root out criminal elements and ensure justice prevails.”

The NCS also urged the general public to join hands in the fight against these brazen criminals and implored them to remain vigilant as well as report suspicious activities of these daredevil smugglers to the nearest customs formation, saying, “Together, we can create a safer environment for our officers and a more secure nation for all.”
